Leckhampton Surgery is pleased to announce that over the next few months we will be developing an extended & improved service, offering travel advice and healthcare to private patients as well as to our existing patients.

We are recruiting a new nurse to help us provide this service, and will provide a range of services, from simple advice to tailored health care vaccination programmes, malaria treatments and travel packs.

We will continue to provide a high quality private travel health service to our own registered patients (providing NHS vaccinations when this is possible) and will be extending this service to any traveller who requires health care or advice for their trip.

When We Are Closed

out_of_hoursTelephone: 08454 220220

This service operates between 6.30 pm and 8.30 am to cover genuine emergencies that will not wait until the next day.

Your call will be taken by specially trained NHS staff who are used to dealing with confidential medical information. They will make sure that you receive the right advice and help quickly.

During this call, these staff will either:

  • pass the call to a doctor or nurse who may be able to deal with your problem over the phone
  • offer you advice on self care
  • refer you to a local Primary Care Centre (PCC – a place where doctors, nurses and other staff see people who require urgent treatment or care ‘out of hours’)
  • call out a member of the on-call team, who would be able to carry out a home visit if there is a need
  • or in an emergency send out an ambulance

NHS Direct

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
