Appointments

To make an appointment: You can make an appointment by telephoning the surgery on 0844 477 2432, by coming into the surgery in person, or by booking online.

You may have an appointment with the doctor or nurse of your choice, provided that they are available.

Short urgent appointments are always available for the same day but we cannot guarantee that you will always be able to see your own doctor.  If you require an urgent appointment on the same day, please telephone the surgery first, rather than coming down in person, since all our urgent requests are dealt with intially by a telephone consultation.

If you request an urgent appointment, visit or telephone call, you will be phoned back by the triage doctor. He or she will discuss with you your health concerns, and will assess how your needs can best be dealt with: this may be either further advice,  a prescription, an appointment at the surgery or a home visit.

Online Booking

Using our Emis Access system you can now book and cancel appointments online.  To use this facility you must register, using a secure ID that the surgery will issue on request. Please visit reception and they will provide you with the information that you will need.  Alternatively, please e-mail the surgery via our 'contact us' page to request that the information is sent to you at home.

Home Visits

If you can make an appointment to come to the surgery it is better to do so. We have more facilities at the surgery and it is easier to examine and treat you there.

Visits are usually restricted to housebound patients only. If you cannot come to the surgery and need a home visit, this can be requested by telephone.

Please try to telephone before 10.30 am, this helps the visiting doctor to organise their visits for the day. If you require an urgent visit please tell the receptionist.

Telephone Advice

The doctors usually return telephone calls between 11 and 12 at the end of morning surgery. The receptionists have been asked not to interrupt the doctors during their surgeries except in emergencies.

If you wish to speak to your doctor on the telephone, please ask the receptionist to book you a call, which may at a different time of day, depending on the doctor’s own arrangements.

The doctor will then ring you back as close to that time as possible. Urgent advice at other times can be obtained from the duty doctor on call.

You can also ask receptionists to book a time for one of our practice nurses to call you back if you want some advice on their specialist areas, for example child immunisations.

The District Nurse team can be contacted on their direct line (0844 477 2510) and if they are not in the office, you can leave a message for them: they will return your call at the end of the morning or afternoon.

The Health Vistors also have a direct line (0844 477 2509), and if they are not in the office when you call, you can leave a message for them to telephone you back when they return.

Text Reminder Service

Did you know that there were 91 missed appointments in December 09? The numbers of missed appointments are on the increase. These appointments, if cancelled, could have been given to other patients.

Mjog is a free text service that enables a practice to send text messages to remind patients of their upcoming appointments. All that the surgery needs is your mobile number. Please provide the reception with your mobile phone number if you would like to take advantage of this service.
