Leckhampton Surgery is pleased to announce that over the next few months we will be developing an extended & improved service, offering travel advice and healthcare to private patients as well as to our existing patients.

We are recruiting a new nurse to help us provide this service, and will provide a range of services, from simple advice to tailored health care vaccination programmes, malaria treatments and travel packs.

We will continue to provide a high quality private travel health service to our own registered patients (providing NHS vaccinations when this is possible) and will be extending this service to any traveller who requires health care or advice for their trip.

GP Training

The practice is committed to the further training of various health professionals. These include doctors, district and practice nurses, midwives and health visitors.

The GP Registrars are qualified doctors, but are now gaining further experience in the field of General Practice, usually over a year. Sometimes you may be asked if this doctor could be present during the consultation with your usual doctor, or if the consultation may be recorded on video. Your consent will be sought before this, and you may refuse if you feel unhappy.

At various times, qualified nurses will be training alongside the Practice’s usual midwife, health visitors and district nurses, to gain additional qualifications. The practice also has student nurses and doctors from time to time from Bristol University, secondment from the Gloucestershire Clinical Academy.
